Experience the Cade together with a field trip or group visit.

Explore our exhibits as a group with educator-led activities (Explore More) or book a memory-making lab field trip (Lab & Explore or Lab & Learn) aligned with National Next Generation Science Standards and Sunshine State Standards.

Museum Exploration for Groups

Explore More field trips are suitable for any group visit to the museum, such as school field trips, homeschool co-ops, camps, and more. Our facilitated experiences are available Wednesday*-Sunday, 10:00am – 4:00pm, and are great for all ages! Lab Field Trips

We believe that every student has an innate capacity for exceptional creativity and can become a future inventor. Our lab field trips spark wonder and link school-based learning with the world around each child. Lab field trips are designed to complement your classroom curriculum, and diverse themes enable you to engage your students with the Cade again and again for continually layered educational experiences.

Students will be inspired to think like inventors as they apply core science concepts:

  • Inventivity Framework – Exploring core content that correlates with CPALMS and NGSS Standards.
  • Invention – Learning through the lens of invention and innovation, while exploring the lives of visionaries whose inventions have changed our world and continue to improve it.
  • Exploration – Sparking creativity through hands-on projects and lasting “Make & Takes.”

Spring field trips are almost sold out!

In-Museum Field Trips

Lab & Explore Popular

  • Students will engage in a 1-hour lab experience in the Creativity Lab and embark on 1 hour of facilitated museum immersion to interact with the Cade Museum exhibits through educator-guided activities and experiments.
  • Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • 80 students maximum (20 minimum)
  • $15 per student – deposit required

Choose from any of the 1-hour lab and explore topics below:

  • The Hidden World of Insects (K – 1st): From playful pollinators to creepy crawlers, discover the life cycles and anatomies of our planet’s team of wonderful workers. You can learn all about these creatures and their stories up close with fun crafts and interactive activities at Cade!
  • Magnificent Matter (2nd – 5th): When studying matter, things can get a little overwhelming – it’s everything! Matter is anything that physically takes up space, from the air you breathe to the water you drink. Narrow the exploration down with Cade’s Magnificent Matter, where students can learn more about the three classic states of matter, and discover the science behind the stuff that makes up our world!
  • Optics: Exploring the Seen and Unseen (3rd – 5th): How does light travel? How do mirrors work? How do our brains help us see the world around us? Discover light’s illusive properties, the secrets hidden in simple white light, how light can bend our perceptions of reality, and much more!
  • Force, Motion, Inertia: A Crash Course in Physics (2nd – 5th): The findings of this particular scientist carry a heavy weight! Students will explore the life and research of Sir Isaac Newton, the scientist who uncovered and explained the principles of physics that dictate our universe today. Get moving with hands-on investigations of Newton’s three Laws of Motion.
  • Shedding Light on Electrical Circuits (3rd – 5th): What happens when you flip on a light switch? In this field trip, learn how to build circuits using everyday materials and connect with the key inventor who played a critical role in discovering the electrical current we all use today!
  • Code at the Cade: Indi the Robot (K – 2nd): Begin your journey of learning the language of computers! With the Indi Robot, create and run codes using simple color tiles. Indi will help break down basic coding concepts, such as sequencing and algorithms. Join us to plug in to the world of computer coding today!

These topics are designed to correlate with CPALMS and NGSS standards for each grade level.

Lab & Learn

  • Students will engage in a 2-hour lab experience in the Creativity Lab.
  • Wednesday
  • Museum exploration is not included in a Lab & Learn field trip
  • 40 students maximum (20 minimum)
  • $15 per student – deposit required

Choose from any of the 2-hour Lab & Learn topics below:

  • Reinventing Immunity: Our Body’s Defense (K – 8th): Ever wonder how our bodies fight against a virus? In Reinventing Immunity, we’re diving into the teeny tiny world of the cells that store our body’s DNA, our immune system, and the ways cells function with their own internal systems. Join us to discover the big impact of the little world of cells!
  • Discovering DNA (3rd – 8th): Discover the seemingly simple methods of pinpointing inheritance traits, learn about the structure of DNA, and even extract real strands of DNA from fruits you may have in your fridge! Join us to get closer to the very thing that holds your genetic history!
  • Code at the Cade: Dash the Robot (3rd – 5th): Learn the language of computers! With a program called Blockly, create and run codes on Dash the Robot. Dash will help break down coding concepts like algorithms, loops, parameters, and functions! Join us to plug in to the world of computer coding today!
  • The Hidden World of Insects (K – 1st): From playful pollinators to creepy crawlers, discover the life cycles and anatomies of our planet’s team of wonderful workers. You can learn all about these creatures and their stories up close with fun crafts and interactive activities at Cade!

Matter is anything that physically takes up space, from things like liquids, solids, gases to all those things in-between. Narrow the exploration down with Cade’s Magnificent Matter where students can learn more about the three classic states of matter, the difference between weight and mass, and much more!
  • Optics: Exploring the Seen and Unseen (3rd – 5th): How does light travel? How do mirrors work? How do our brains help us see the world around us? Discover light’s illusive properties, the secrets hidden in simple white light, how light can bend our perceptions of reality, and much more!
